This is me starting my Key Chain project. I chose a cute picture, and fit it into a 4 in by 4 in Art board on Adobe Illustrator.
First I traced the picture with the curvature tool while the picture was on, then I turned it off and made adjustments so it would look more like two cats. This is me outlining the picture with the curvature tool, and outlining the head of the cat facing this way, so it won't look weird. I also changed the lines that I want to get cut out to .001 pt. The black-filled part of the cat will be engraved, and the white like the eyes won't be cut out or engraved.
I filled it in black and switched the head color so it would stand out against the black. I made some white spots on the left cat with the curvature tool so you can tell the difference, and then filled those in white. I'm not going to make a keyhole, since I'm just using the heart of the cat's tails as the keyhole.
Then to make my sticker for the keychain, I chose a pretty sunset. I then adjusted it so that it was where i wanted it, and changed the outline color of the cats to the CutContour color (a pink color).
This is me making a clipping mask out of the cat outline and the sunset. I sent the imagine behind the outline to make sure it would cute correctly. Then i sent it to Mr Shapiro and he printed it out on the big big printer.
This is pictures of both sides (I didn't smooth out the sticker fully when this picture was taken so yours will probably look smoother if you decide to make a sticker for the back) of my finished keychain. I will add a ring to it to hold it on a bag or keys, but for now I like how it looks without it.
