The Idea Incubator course creates a time and space for students to explore their ideas and bring them to life. Students will have the opportunity to work collaboratively and independently to develop a concept and take it forward. Students will be encouraged to dream up projects that are of personal significance to express their ideas, solve local and/or global problems, or explore concepts that provide a pathway to self-directed learning. This class flips the onus onto the students to create their own learning path based on what is important to them. The teacher will serve as a coach and mentor guiding the students towards making progress on their projects while developing innovative skills and navigating challenges. Skills developed in the class will vary depending on each students’ interests, project ideas, and experience and may include: Iteration and failure, how to develop a plan and begin moving it forward, product design, and entrepreneurial exploration.
