7:50 - 8:15: Homeroom

8:15 - 8:45: Team Time

8:45 - 8:55: Class Meeting

8:55 - 9:35: Phonics

9:35 - 11:10: Reading & Writing

11:10 - 12:20: Math

12:25 - 12:55: Lunch

1:00 - 1:30: Recess

1:30 - 2:00: Science & Social Studies

2:00 - 2:50: Specials

3:00: Dismissal

Communication

While you can send me emails as forms of communication, I do use Bright Arrow as a way to communicate with the whole classroom. Bright Arrow messages will come through email and text messages.

When your child is absent, please send a note or email to document their absence. If your child missed because of a doctor’s appointment, make sure you send an excuse back with your child. After 10 absences, you will be required to have a doctor’s note each time your child is absent.

Transportation changes happen! However changes must be communicated with me. If a transportation change arises, please contact me on Bright Arrow or through email by 1:00. If you need to change the way your child goes home after 1:00, please contact the front office, so they can let me know. You can also send a note to school with your child to communicate transportation changes.

Behavior

Students will earn PBIS points for positive behavior. Students are expected to follow directions, respect their peers and teachers, and work hard. If students do not demonstrate appropriate behavior, then consequences will be put in place. Consequences are found on the Dawson County Schools behavior rubric.

Study Hall

We have study hall each day during recess. Your child will be required to go if they have poor behavior, missing work, and/or do not complete their homework.

Homework

Each night students will have about 30-45 minutes of homework to complete.

Spiral Math and Spiral Science Review: This will be given to your child each Monday. They can complete it all in one night, or can do it each night. It is due when coming into school each day, so Monday’s will have to be completed before coming to school on Tuesday.
Students should read 20-30 minutes each night.
If your child does not complete any work in class, or has work that is missing due to being absent, they will need to complete it at home and return it to school, or complete it during study hall.

Missing homework will have to be completed during recess at study hall, unless your child completes it before the tardy bell.

Snack & Specials Calendar

A monthly special’s calendar will be sent home at the beginning of each month in weekly folders and on Bright Arrow. Make sure your child wears tennis shoes on days we have PE.

Included on this calendar will be your child’s day to bring snacks for the community basket! If you choose to not participate in the community snack basket, you will need to provide a snack for your child each day. Ice cream can be purchased for $1.

Any special events will also be communicated on this calendar.

Cell Phones & Smart Watches

Cell phones & smart watches are a distraction in the classroom. If your child has a need after school where they must bring their phone to school, it must be turned off and in their bookbag. If your child’s phone is seen out during the school day, it will be collected by the teacher and returned before dismissal on the first offense. On the second offense, your child’s phone will be turned into the administration team for you to pick up. On the third offense, you will have to pick the phone up again, and they will be required to turn it in each day. The same is true for smart watches. If you need to contact your child during the school day, please contact myself or the office.
