LinkIt Test Creation Instructions
Here's a step-by-step guide for creating a test within the LinkIt platform.
1. Log in to your LinkIt account via Classlink.
Click on the "Test Design" icon from the LinkIt homepage.
From the submenu under Test Design, select "Tests".
Under "Test Banks", select "Add New Test Bank".
In the pop-up window, choose the grade level and subject.
Name the Test Bank specifically, including the school year, grade level, subject, and the type of assessments it will contain (e.g., Unit tests, quizzes, etc.).
Select "Create".
3. Creating an assessment (test)
Select the test bank you just created.
In the right testing window, select "Add a New Test".
Tests in LinkIt MUST be named following these conventions.
Click "Create".
Choose Cargory-Linkit, Default, Linear test
4. Adding questions (You have options)
You can either import items from the LinkIt test library or create your own.
When importing, use the filtering options to narrow down the selection by standard, subject, and grade.
For self-created items, include the question, answer choices, and correct answer.
Assign standards and tags to your items for accurate data filtering and reporting.
Set the point value for each question.
A. Using the Linkit Library to create a test
Select Third Party Library or District Library.
Filter by state, subject, grade, and standard.
Choose the questions and click "Add items to Test".
B. Importing questions from item banks
Select "Import Item".
Filter by state, subject, grade, and standard.
Choose the questions and click "Add items to Test".
C. Creating new items (questions)
Select "Create New Item".
Enter your question. You can add various media and format the text. Use language palettes for special characters if needed.
Add answer choices and select the correct one.
Preview the item.
Select "Save and Close" or "Save and Create New".
5. Editing the assessment
Open the test you want to edit.
Click an item to see its properties and click "Edit Item" to modify it.
Use the "Add Section" icon for new sections.
Reorder items/sections by dragging and dropping.
Go to "Test Properties" to edit the name, instructions, section details, and point values.
6. Setting accommodations and preferences (Optional)
Access the online testing section in LinkIt.
Select "Assign Online Tests".
Choose the specific grade and assessment from the bank.
Important: Check the "student level assignment" option if you want to provide different accommodations to different groups of students within the same class.
Select the school and teacher.
Choose the students for whom you want to enable accommodations.
Click on the "Preferences" or "Change Assignment Settings" button to access the customization options for accommodations.
Enable the desired accommodations: LinkIt supports various accommodations like text-to-speech, color contrast, text and image zoom, extra time, and other tools like highlighters, rulers, calculators, etc..
Click "Set" and then "Assign" to apply the accommodations to the selected students.
Repeat for other groups/students: If you checked "student level assignment", you'll need to invert your selection and repeat the steps above to assign different accommodations to other students or groups as needed
LinkIt offers various settings, including accommodations like text-to-speech, color contrast, zoom, and extended time. Tools such as highlighters, rulers, protractors, and calculators are also available. Explore these options to find what best suits your students.
Note: A test cannot be edited once results are recorded.
