Tech Competition Details 2023-2024

Fulton Science Academy will host the Georgia Independent and Home school Technology competition on Sunday, January 21, 2024.  The cost to participate is $15 per student.  Students will present their projects to the judges face to face again this year.  The final day for project submission is January 3rd, 2024. The competition is open to 3rd - 12th grade students in all independent and home schools in Georgia. This competition is an great way for students showcase their technology abilities in various categories.   Students may participate in one of 15 different categories across five grade groups:

All first-place winners are automatically entered into the 2024 Georgia Student Technology Competition.  More details about the state competition will be given as we get closer to the event.  


Programming Challenge 2023-2024

For the GASTC Programming Challenge this year, we will have two competitions.  Our state competition will take place virtually on November 11th.  The virtual room will open around 8:00 AM, and the competition will start at 9:00 AM.  Each team will have 3 hours for the event.  

Here are the main things you need to know before the event.   

New this year:

This competition is open to anyone in the state of Georgia.  

You will not be competing for your region like in the past.

You must be in the same room as your teacher/sponsor.  We suggest being at a school.

You are not going to be allowed to use ChatGPT or any other AI tools for the competition.

Teams can be individuals or Teams of 2-3 participants.

We are BETA testing a 5th and 6th grade competition.

The top Ten teams will advance to the Spring competition against Alabama teams.  The date is tentatively scheduled for February 10th.

Here are the items that you will need to accomplish to be a part of the State Programming Challenge Competition:

If you did not participate in this event last year, you need to make an account at https://actecomp.org  

One person from each team needs to fill out this Registration Form.  (Before filling out, each team member needs to have a login to the https://actecomp.org system, and you will need to provide the username.)

Previous students should use their current logins on the competition website and are not to create a duplicate accounts.  Users can use the “Forgot Password” link on the competition website if needed. 

Sponsors/teachers may create an account on the competition website to monitor the competition.

Your team needs to be registered by October 26th.  NO late registrations will be allowed.

February 10th Alabama vs. Georgia Competition will open a virtual room at 10:00 EST (9:00 CST) and start the competition at 11:00 EST (10:00 CST)
