Thank you for joining the annual technology competition. Register for the tech fair by clicking the link above. The cost this year will be $25.00 per student and will include a t-shirt with registration. Credit card payments can be made when the registration form is filled out. The official in-house competition date will be announced soon. The competition will take place after Thanksgiving break. We will send out a schedule of when each student will present their project to the judges as we get closer. All first place projects will qualify to compete at regionals. We will announce the placings before Winter Break to allow for plenty of time to prepare for Regionals. Regional competition will take place at Fulton Science Academy on Sunday, January 25, 2026.
Participation is encouraged as this is a rewarding experience for all! You can find all the important dates by clicking here. If you need to find the specifics of your category, you can find the details here.
Presenting your project can seem scary, but preparation will make it seem much easier to complete. Below are some tips to help you with the process:
Review the category rubrics before you discuss your project to know what the judges will be looking for.
Draft an outline or a script of your presentation, but try not to read directly from a script so that it sounds like you are talking with the judges. Try to maintain eye contact.
If you are working with a partner, decide beforehand who will talk about each aspect of the project.
Practice your presentation as if you were in front of the judges and talking to them. This will help with nervousness and to make sure that you have covered all the needed information.
Speak loudly, clearly, and slowly so that the judges can hear your every word.
*Students will not be judged on any nervousness of their interview, but they will be judged on knowledge and on the content.
Introduce yourself, your grade level, and your project. Do not include the school you attend (for regional and state competitions).
Example: “Hi, my name is (name), and I am in ( grade) and my project category is (category). I chose this project and category because (give reason). I used (list software and/ or materials) to make my project”
Explain the intended purpose of your project in detail.
Demonstrate your project and how it works. Describe any unique aspects of the project and any creative steps taken in the design process.
Describe why you chose the specific software and why was it most suitable for your project.
Describe the steps to make your project and how long it took you to create the project.
What was the easiest part, most difficult part, and most fun part of your project?
What would you do differently if you did the project again?
Did you use copyright material? How did you cite the sources?
How long should my presentation be?
The total time should be no longer than 10 minutes. If the presentation goes over 15 minutes, judges will end the presentation (per state rules).
Am I allowed to have someone help me?
A parent or sibling is allowed to give you guidance in creating your tech fair project. However, they will not be permitted to be in the presentation with the judges with you. It is important that you understand your project independent of any help that you may receive. After all, you will be the one showing it off for the judges!
What are the copyright restrictions?
We recommend creating original work whenever possible. However, if you are including music or images that are not your own work, there are several websites that will allow you to use their work, as long as you cite your sources. Here are some suggested resources for this:

What attire should I wear for the presentation?
Make sure to dress appropriately with clothes that show a professional tone. We want the judges to focus on your work and not be distracted by your dress!
If I am participating in the animation or video production category, how long should my project be?
We recommend that your final video project should be no more than 3-5 minutes. This will give you enough time to talk about your video and include the information needed for the presentation.
If I am participating in the robotics category, can I use a remote to control the robot?
According to the robotic criteria, robots controlled through direct, real time remote control by the student are not appropriate. Once started, the robotics project should operate as a standalone independent machine without human interaction.
