The Daviess County Fiscal Court is pleased to announce the installation of public Wi-Fi hotspots at seven volunteer fire stations.
“These hotspots will enable students to access the Internet, so they can download assignments or other educational resources in support of virtual learning,” explained Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly. “We also believe the hotspots will be advantageous for adults who need to work remotely during the pandemic.”
The Wi-Fi hotspots will be available around-the-clock with the username and password posted on signs at each location. Families are asked to follow health and safety guidelines, such as social distancing, while on site. Also, please give priority access to first responders in the event of an emergency call.
“I have to give the credit to our Director of Legislative Services, David Smith and Emergency Management Director Andy Ball,” Mattingly said. “David came to me with the idea and Andy ran with it.”
“We also could not have done this project without the support of the Daviess County Volunteer Fire Departments,” he added. “These groups are always looking to serve the community and this is another example of that.”

First, we would like to thank each of you for spreading the word about Kenergy’s Wi-Fi portal locations at all of our offices. We hope these were able to provide students in our area schools with some help connecting and completing work this past school year.
Since most schools are out for summer and the fall plans will be for students to be back in the classroom, Kenergy will be deactivating the portals at our offices. If the need presents itself in the future, we will keep the technology and equipment to set these back up.
Again, thank you for your help in spreading the word and we hope you have a wonderful summer!
Thank you, Leslie Barr, Kenergy Communications and Public Relations Specialist
