2. DCPS Optional Insurances (System Name: EMPLOYEE NAVIGATOR)

New Hires have 30 days to complete their new hire benefit elections.
Qualifying Events: You are allowed 30 days to complete benefit changes due to a qualifying event. (Ex. marriage, divorce, death, birth of child, etc.)

The state website is not user-friendly on a mobile device. We recommend using a desktop or laptop.
If waiving health coverage, you must actively waive the coverage to avoid being placed on the default health plan.
New Hires that have previously held coverage with DCPS or any other state agency, or those establishing a cross-reference, will need to complete their new hire enrollment via paper form provided by Sophie Howard.

📢CAUTION!:
There are two options for dental and vision (Anthem & Guardian). Please be sure to only elect one!
The coverage shown in the State Anthem guides only applies to in-network dentists. The Anthem dentist network in the Owensboro area is limited. We recommend contacting your dental provider to verify they are in-network. Keep in mind, being in-network and your provider saying they will bill Anthem are NOT the same. Make sure you specify "in-network".
If your dental provider is out-of-network, there is a good chance they may be in-network with Guardian (DCPS). Even if your dental provider is out-of-network with Guardian, Guardian will still pay based on 90% of market average which means significantly reduced balance billing for you! 🥳
SUMMARY: If your dental provider is out of network for both Anthem and Guardian and you want to keep your current provider, Guardian will provide the best overall value between the two plans.
