August
To start off the year, we will be reviewing letter formation and sounds, as well as all short vowel CVC words!
We are starting a new curriculum this year called EL. Students will learn about different tools and what they are used for during the first module. At the end of Module 1, students will create a "magnificent thing" that would help solve a problem in the classroom. They will be working with their classmates and participating in class discussions, as well as working on writing, speaking, and listening skills.
We will begin our Eureka Module 1, which focuses on sums and differences to 10. Students will work with a variety of math tools that will help them visualize and fluently add and subtract within 10. Students will also spend time everyday practicing how to make 10, since being able to make 10 will be a crucial skill this year!
For the month of September, we will be discussing the importance of "Being Proactive". This is where students are learning about how to be in charge of themselves. Students are learning to identify their emotions, strategies to help them regulate their emotions, and using proactive language in difficult situations.
