Dylan Jones, a native of Burlington, North Carolina, is currently in his eighth year teaching band and his second year teaching at North Davie Middle School in Mocksville, NC.
Mr. Jones received his Bachelor of Music Education with a concentration in Instrumental Education from Appalachian State University, as well as his Bachelor of Music Performance with a concentration in Saxophone under Dr. Scott Kallestad. During his time at Appalachian State, he was a member of the university’s chapter of NAfME where he served as the Treasurer. He also served as the Secretary for the Rho Tau chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Music Fraternity. Mr. Jones played in numerous ensembles at Appalachian State including the Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, and several chamber ensembles. He was also a member of the Marching Mountaineers as a saxophone player. While a part of the Marching Mountaineers, he held leadership positions such as saxophone section leader, drum major, and Woodwind Caption head. He completed his student teaching with Mr. Brian Myers at Green Hope High School.
Mr. Jones is currently a member of NAfME, NCMEA, the Northwest NC Bandmasters Association, and the North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA). He currently lives in Winston-Salem, NC. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, cooking, and playing video games. Mr. Jones has a true passion for teaching music to kids. He truly believes that every student is capable of making music with enough hard work and the right attitude. His hope is that his students learn to have a heart for music and how to be productive members of society.
