● What was a challenge you faced in completing your Global Experience? How did you deal with it?
● How did the actual experience differ from your expectations?
● What have you learned about your own cultural rules and biases? How has that altered your view of other cultures’ rules and biases? How has your sense of self changed?
● Did you have any experiences in which your values were tested? If so, what did you learn about your values through that experience?
● What have you learned through your global courses and passport events that has shaped your overall education?
● Give examples of specific things you’ve learned about another culture’s history, values, politics, communication styles, economy, or beliefs and practices.
● What ‘soft skills’ have you gained (e.g. empathy, communication, perspective, collaboration, flexibility, problem-solving, etc.) that will help you in your professional life?
● What is the single most important thing you’ve learned?
● How are you different because of your participation in the Global Scholars program? What surprised you? What will you always remember about it?
● How did this experience affect your perception of others? Has your global perspective changed? ● What does being a global citizen mean to you? Do you consider yourself to be one?
● Some of the characteristics of cultural competence are: Openness, Respect, Curiosity and Courage. Talk about how you’ve grown in at least one of these areas.
