Education Placement/Recruitment Organizations

The organizations work with applicants to place them in teacher and administration roles in independent and private schools. A bachelor’s degree in education or a teacher certification is not necessary. Applicants complete a profile and work with a consultant who helps find positions that match their career interests, geographic focus, etc.

Teacher Fellowships/Residencies:

Residency Programs: Residents learn how to teach by working for an entire year alongside a highly trained, supported mentor teacher in the school district where the resident will eventually work while completing academic coursework that aligns with the classroom experience. The resident must commit to teaching in the program for a minimum amount of time, often two to three years.

Teaching Fellowships: Similar to a residency program, a fellow works alongside a mentor learning to teach in the classroom. Fellows will sometimes pursue a masters degree outside of work in a program affiliated with a local college or university. Tuition is a benefit of the fellowship experience.

*Multiple other fellowships (national and international) can be found in the Experiential Fellowships & Service Corps database

Additionally, look for residency and fellowship positions via Handshake. In the jobs section, keyword search “teaching fellowship” or “teacher residency,” as well as look for fellowship positions using keywords “teaching” or “education.” Multiple positions are posted throughout the year.
