Do you want to work as a classroom teacher, with a nonprofit organization focused on education, as part of an agency or organization focused on education policy or something different? For any of the above and other areas, the focus of your interests is bettering the education experience for children.

Education Placement/Recruitment Organizations
The organizations work with applicants to place them in teacher and administration roles in independent and private schools. A bachelor’s degree in education or a teacher certification is not necessary. Applicants complete a profile and work with a consultant who helps find positions that match their career interests, geographic focus, etc.

Southern Teachers Agency **Top Davidson Recruiter** Southern Teachers Agency, the oldest independent teacher placement service in America, has connected teachers and administrators to positions in independent schools in the South since 1902.
Teacher Fellowships/Residencies:
Residency Programs: Residents learn how to teach by working for an entire year alongside a highly trained, supported mentor teacher in the school district where the resident will eventually work while completing academic coursework that aligns with the classroom experience. The resident must commit to teaching in the program for a minimum amount of time, often two to three years.
Teaching Fellowships: Similar to a residency program, a fellow works alongside a mentor learning to teach in the classroom. Fellows will sometimes pursue a masters degree outside of work in a program affiliated with a local college or university. Tuition is a benefit of the fellowship experience.

Charlotte Country Day School Hearst Teaching Fellowship: Prospective minority teachers are introduced to independent school teaching & administration through a one year salaried fellowship program.

City Year An AmeriCorps post-graduate opportunity where members serve as student success coaches, supporting the development, growth and success of students in systemically under-resourced schools, while cultivating skills to be leaders in their communities and careers. Opportunities located in 29 cities across 21 states.
National Association of Independent Schools: Job postings with private/independent schools.
Teach for America (TFA) TFA is a network of leaders who teach for at least two years in a low-income community. Many alums continue their work after the two-year commitment in roles that remain focused on resolving inequity and injustice, whether through policy, education, law or other fields.
Teacher Job Fairs A list of ongoing virtual job fairs across the country during which school districts and organizations will recruit candidates for full-time opportunities.
North Carolina Resources
Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS): 2nd largest public school district in North Carolina offer outlets for employment for applicants with or without licensure or an education background.
Lateral Entry Program: Lateral Entry Teachers are individuals employed in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools that hold at least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area they are employed to teach.
Teacher Residency Program: CMS Teaching Residency is one option for alternative route licensure. Our program is specifically recruiting middle and high school math, middle and high school science, middle and high school English/Language Arts, elementary teachers, and EC General Curriculum teachers.
Forgivable Education Loans for Service (FELS): Students can qualify for up to $20,000 for a Master’s degree program or up to $56,000 in a Doctoral program if pursued at eligible institutions in North Carolina. Teacher candidates must commit to teaching in North Carolina to be eligible for the program.
Outdoor Education
High Mountain Institute Apprentice Program: Located in Colorado, HMI Apprentice program is for college graduates who immerse themselves in a semester-long teaching fellowship as part of the HMI Semester (our semester school for high school students).
