EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING

WHAT IS EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING?

Experiential learning is the process of learning by doing; combining the knowledge and theories you learn in the classroom with practical, hands-on application and skills building.

Examples of experiential learning are:

Internships: An internship integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Short-term experiences that allow you to test out career interests, gain valuable experience, and connect with employers.

Undergraduate Research: Work alongside faculty and research professionals to complete original research.

Education Away: Explore the world and different cultures, understand the world at large, and prepare for national and international leadership. Fully immerse in the experience and learn valuable skills for the future.

Community-Based/Project-Based Learning: An experience developed in partnership with nonprofit and community organizations where you connect your academic work to projects that focus on community-defined needs and enhance your understanding of social, civic, and ethical issues.

Graduate Fellowships: Short-term post-graduate opportunities, lasting from a few months to several years, often sponsored by research and educational organizations looking to make a difference and to invest in potential leaders in their respective fields.
