What is the Dave’s Gift Foundation?
Our mission is to make mental health care accessible to all by providing financial subsidies, advocating for systemic change, and fostering partnerships that help build resilient communities.
We envision a world where mental health care is universally accessible, stigma-free, and prioritized as a fundamental right. Through our commitment to financial support, advocacy for change, and collaborative partnerships, we strive to create a future where every individual can achieve emotional well-being and live a fulfilling life without the burden of financial or societal barriers.
What is Dave’s Gift Foundation Subsidy Program?
One of the main focuses of Dave’s Gift Foundation is to help make mental health care more accessible for everyone. One of the ways in which we are doing this, is through our therapy subsidy program, which allows approved candidates to receive designated therapy services, subsidized by our foundation.
How this works is simple, therapists just fill out our Application on behalf of their client through our online form and we review each application and assess their needs for subsidy. If the applicant is approved, we inform the therapist.
Our model differs from other free counselling services, because we pay the therapist the agreed upon amount, the therapist subsidizes some of the cost, and the client pays a portion that works within their budget, so that everyone is contributing to the therapeutic process.
We ensure that therapy is making a difference in the client’s life through outcome measures that are provided to the client.
How do payments work?
Invoices will be paid monthly.

Routine Outcome Monitoring
Therapists are required to inform clients that routine outcome monitoring will occur for the duration of funding through Dave’s Gift Foundation. This is to ensure that the therapist is held accountable for maintaining a strong working alliance with the client and that the care that is being provided remains quality. We want to ensure that the client is making progress and moving toward mental health and stability. We believe in care that extends from crisis through maintenance and are monitoring outcomes to best support the client in their journey toward mental health. Clients are required to fill out the outcome measures within a timely manner and the therapist will be contacted if the client has missed filling out their outcome measures to update DGF if a new email address is required or to follow up with the client regarding the missed assessments. If 3 or more assessments are missed, funding will be suspended until such time as the client completes the assessments, at which time, funding can be resumed. However, if the client continues to not complete the assessments, funding can be terminated.
Employer Health Benefits/Personal Plans
If a client has mental health benefits, we will connect with the therapist to determine percentage covered and roll-over date, as extended health benefits must be used in conjunction with DGF funding, if they are available.
Client Responsibility/Complaints
Clients are the responsibility of the therapist and do not belong to DGF. No clinical records will be kept by DGF. All clinical records are the responsibility of the therapist. Maintenance of these records are stipulated by the therapist’s licensing body. Any and all complaints regarding services rendered are to be directed to the clinician’s licensing body. DGF can support the client in filing a complaint and may be a named complainant if deemed necessary by DGF.
