The Master of Arts in Special Educational Needs / Additional Learning Needs (SEN/ ALN) (University of South Wales, UK)

The Master of Arts in Special Educational Needs/ Additional Learning Needs (MA SEN/ALN) takes on a block delivery format and has been designed to provide for the continuous professional, academic and personal development of participants who are drawn from a range of backgrounds which are related to the field of Education. Course participants include teachers and leaders in schools, allied educators and parents and caregivers who work with children with a range of special educational needs (SEN).

Having its foundation in the professional and established SEN framework from the University of South Wales, the MA SEN/ALN programme in Singapore is further supplemented with local perspectives and practices to ensure its relevance for the local context. This is a programme that brings together high-quality evidence-based SEN practices from the East and the West.

The programme provides access to a coherent framework of professional development in the area of SEN and encourages the effective synthesis of theoretical and practical knowledge. Specialist Diploma in Specific Learning Differences (SpLD)

The Specialist Diploma in Specific Learning Differences is a full-time/part-time programme and can be completed in a minimum of 12 months and a maximum of 36 months. For the award of the Specialist Diploma in Specific Learning Differences, participants have to successfully complete six modules. Students are expected to complete 2 compulsory modules and allowed to select the other 3 elective modules based on their preferences. Students must pass all assessments for all 5 taught modules, in order to proceed with the practicum module to complete the Specialist Diploma. In other words, all assignments are submitted as required under the Specialist Diploma. Modules are designed to run consecutively, and students should complete the Specialist Diploma within a year.

Specialist Diploma in Learning Support for Specific Learning Differences

This Specialist Diploma is designed by the DAS Academy and is pending registration with the Committee for Private Education. It is also recognised by the Register of Educational Therapist (ASIA).

This programme has been introduced as a specialist qualification allowing all who are interested to gather theoretical knowledge on Specific Learning Differences while also developing practical skills on how to provide support for learners in this field. This course also offers an opportunity for continuing professional development. The DAS Academy’s multidisciplinary team of lecturers comprises psychologists, educational therapists, speech and language and occupational therapists. This programme intends to draw on our bank of accumulated knowledge and experiences to provide a consolidated field of knowledge in SpLD. The specialist diploma aims to empower both advocates and practitioners to positively improve learning and teaching practices in their homes and institutions.

Specialist Diploma in Educational Therapy (EdT)

The Specialist Diploma in Educational Therapy provides the specialised training required by DAS educational therapists to effectively support students receiving literacy intervention at the DAS learning centres. It thus equips our educational therapists to build the oracy and literacy skills needed by students with dyslexia to cope with school.

Specialist Diploma in Psychological Assessment for Dyslexia

The Specialist Diploma in Psychological Assessment of Dyslexia equips trainee specialist psychologists at the DAS with the necessary knowledge and skills in the assessment of dyslexia under the supervision of a registered educational psychologist. This course also provides the training required for trainee specialist psychologists to perform their core duties at the DAS.
