"Education is not the learning of fact but the training of the mind!" -Albert Einstein
During this unprecedented time, we understand that many of our educators including teachers, instructional assistants, administrative assistants, and other employees are interested in furthering their own professional skills while working remotely. This site is a bank of professional development activities ranging in content and style. We ask that staff members check back weekly as new activities will continue to be added and deleted.
Most Professional Developments published here are FREE, some are for a fee under a separate section "PD for a FEE." All PD s
Sessions highlighted here are virtual. In some cases, the participant needs to register or set up an account.
Our hope is that you will use the information on the following pages and Learn, Understand, Grow and ultimately Use the knowledge in your future daily practices at Dartmouth Public Schools.
"Quality Education for ALL"
During early release PD, we are offering teachers’ time for tech professional development that is self-paced/self-select and is associated with software that has been purchased by the district. Please see this link for technology professional development opportunities. Please make note that some of these resources are grade-level specific.
DESE Certification Requirements
Please note: the relationship of certification and/or renewing a license is between the educator and DESE.
Professional development activities shall be identified by the educator and supervisor during the development of, and review of, the Individual Professional Development Plan (IPDP) in order to better support student achievement. Individual professional development plans must include at least 150 PDPs that break down as follows:
At least 15 PDPs in content (subject matter knowledge)
At least 15 PDPs in pedagogy (professional skills and knowledge)
At least 15 PDPs related to Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) or English as a Second Language (ESL)
At least 15 PDPs related to training in strategies for effective schooling for students with disabilities and the instruction of students with diverse learning styles
The remaining required 90 PDPs may be earned through either "elective" activities that address other educational issues and topics that improve student learning, or additional content, and/or pedagogy.
Attention Teachers:
Once you particpate in a PD, you can upload the PD information in TeachPoint. Keeping track of all your Professional Development PDP's, outside and in-district, in TeachPoint will make recertification a breeze! You can upload outside PD to TeachPoimt by filling out a TeachPoint form and you can even upload your certificate.
