If you're having trouble with the online FSA ID process, you can opt for a Paper FAFSA. Here is a quick breakdown of how that works and what to keep in mind
No Parent FSA ID Required: Parents can skip the digital identity verification process.
Student FSA ID Recommended: Even if filing on paper, students should still get an ID to track status and make later corrections.
SSN Instructions: Students use their actual Social Security Number, but parents should enter 000-00-0000 on their portion of the form.
Important:
The "All or Nothing" Rule: All contributors must use the same method. If a parent submits via paper, the student must also submit via paper.
Processing Time: Expect paper applications to take significantly longer to process than the digital version.
Bottom Line: While the paper route bypasses digital login headaches, it requires total consistency between parent and student and adds a delay to your financial aid timeline.
