Required once in career at Thayer for all faculty, technical staff, and graduate students. Also required for ENGS-21 and any undergrad projects with relevant safety issues.

Required for working in the machine shop; ordinarily offered early in each term.
Required of students working in certain labs without direct supervision.
Training including hands-on experience with using an extinguisher, required of DFR and staff working in labs with particular fire hazards.

Power Hand Tool Safety for checking out keys to lockers with power hand tools
Electrical Safety for Thayer School for supervised work on circuits with more than 35V exposed.
General Laboratory and Hazardous Waste
Introduction to Laboratory Safety a 2hr course for anyone working in a lab with chemicals or other hazardous materials. This replaces the second half (chemical safety and risk management) of the previous Thayer Safety Seminars.
Hazardous Waste Management for ordering or using hazardous materials. For lab users.
Hazard Communication Training: chemical safety for non-laboratory areas.
Specialized Laboratory Training
X-ray Safety for using x-ray diffractometers at Thayer or medical x-ray work at DHMC. (*see below)
Biosafety (BSL2) Training for those working in labs with pathogenic agents.
Laser Safety Training for those working with lasers over class II which are not integrated into systems.
