We are so excited for you to join the Dartmouth community and experience our beautiful campus!
The Office of Student Life, the Division of Undergraduate Student Affairs, and many other campus
departments are here to assist and support you in your transition to Dartmouth.
Take some time to familiarize yourself with the schedule (both printed and online at dartgo.org/nso)
and be sure to attend all required programs. By attending these events with your new classmates,
you will learn – together – what it means to be a member of our community and contribute to what
is best about Dartmouth.
During New Student Orientation, you will elect fall term courses supported by advising sessions;
connect with faculty, students, and staff; and explore the variety of ways you can become involved
on campus. Additionally – and with equal importance – we expect that you will learn about your
rights and responsibilities as a member of the Dartmouth community. A simple introduction to
those rights and responsibilities is this: you have the right to learn, grow, and experiment here. You
also have the responsibility to engage in these pursuits in a way that does not come at the cost of
others.
We are looking forward to helping you navigate the first steps of your Dartmouth journey.
Orientation is a busy and exciting time; start to explore what allows you to feel healthy, balanced,
organized, and focused. Watch for invitations to “take a break” or find a quiet space. Your well-being
is a vital factor in your success at the College.
The first day of classes is not the end of Orientation. Please continue to stay engaged, especially
with the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) program in residence halls and our Weeks of
Welcome events, designed to further help you connect with campus resources and experiences.
Remember to seek new perspectives, be curious about those around you, keep asking questions,
take care of yourself and each other, and ask for help when you need it.
