As you navigate New Student Orientation, do not hesitate to reach out if you experience an access need or concern. We recognize that you may not know what you need until you are here; we are committed to supporting your transition in whatever ways we can.
We also recognize that inclusive access and accessibility helps not only students who have a disability, short-term condition, or who identify as neurodivergent but all students. Regardless of how you identify, please take a moment to read this information as we believe that it may be helpful at some point! It will also help you support each other as we create community together.
All programs and materials can be made available in alternative format. Many New Student Orientation programs will also be recorded and posted on Canvas should you like to review. Please contact New Student Orientation with questions.
We have partnered with White Coat Captioning to provide captions for many programs, indicated by a “CC” icon. Feel free to sit wherever is best in order to see the captions.
Assistive Listening Devices (ALD) are available at some venues. If you need an ALD or a transcript of a program, please contact New Student Orientation.
During New Student Orientation, students with mobility impairments, injuries, or other difficulties walking long distances can access limited rides through the MobiliD shuttle.
The MobiliD shuttle operates Monday – Friday, 7:00 A.M. – 7:00 P.M.
If you would like to use the MobiliD shuttle during its operating hours, please email Transportation Services’ Mobility Rides Office to be approved for two weeks of access to the MobiliD shuttle. They will provide instructions for how to request a ride.
Limited rides through the MobiliD shuttle will be provided for required or Orientation programs or large social events outside of the standard operating hours above.
See this schedule with designated pick-up and drop-off locations. No registration needed to access the MobiliD shuttle for these programs.
Other accessible transportation around Dartmouth’s campus and the surrounding towns includes Advance Transit shuttles and the Campus Connector.
If you believe you will require more than two weeks of access to the MobiliD shuttle rides, include Dartmouth College Health Service on your email to Transportation Services’ Mobility Rides Office. Health Service will need to approve a period of greater than two weeks.
If at any time you need a break, please take a moment for yourself. The Orientation Canvas site (dartgo.org/nsocanvas) contains some great self-care practices from the Student Wellness Center. Stop by the permanent break space anytime in the Collis Student Center, Room 219 or see the online schedule for session-specific break rooms.
Additional tips for navigating Orientation can be found in our Sensory Guide (dartgo.org/sensory). We also encourage you to visit the Student Wellness Center's Wellbeing Resources (dartgo.org/wellbeingresources) which includes a map of campus mental health resources.
If you have any concerns about traveling to and from programs, from events to meals, or managing campus – please be in touch. While we can’t guarantee solutions for everything, we can introduce you to resources to create a more accessible campus. Check out Advance Transit shuttles, the Campus Connector, and Dartmouth’s MobiliD shuttle service for options to get around. See Accessible Transportation above for more information.
To find accessible entrances and locations of all-gender restrooms on Dartmouth’s online map, click on the “layers” icon in the upper right corner, and then select from the list.
New Student Orientation works with the Tucker Center at Dartmouth to support students who might need accommodations for religious or spiritual observances. Please feel free to email New Student Orientation and/or the Tucker Center with questions. To learn more about spiritual life at Dartmouth, visit the Tucker Center's website.
