Simon Pearce

About 35 years ago, Simon and Pia moved from Ireland to little Quechee, Vermont, where they established the Simon Pearce company, now one of the last large-scale glass operations in the United States making clear utilitarian glassware by hand, one piece at a time.

Simon, born in London and raised on the southern coast of Ireland, came from a pottery-making family and learned glass-making at the Royal College of Art in London and by working with artisans around the world. He and Pia, who grew up in rural New Jersey, ran a highly successful glass business in Ireland before relocating to the United States in the late 1970s. He produced the glassware, and she spearheaded the retail side of the operation.

Store on Main Street Hanover. Their main store and restaurant is located in Quechee, Vermont.

League of New Hampshire Craftsmen

The League is recognized today as one of the country’s foremost fine arts organizations, setting the standard for fine hand crafts — made right here — that are valued throughout the United States and around the world for their creativity, authenticity and technical expertise.

Farmhouse Pottery

Farmhouse Pottery consists of old-world potters with simple tools and strong beliefs in process and authenticity. We believe the farmers, craftsmen, and makers are the core of our communities, and that farm-to-table isn't a foodie trend, but rather the rediscovery of a more sustainable lifestyle and value system. Through our craft and in our daily lives, we're reconnecting others to this lifestyle and defining its place in the modern day.

Walk Around Occom Pond

From the Hanover Inn, walk north on North Main Street toward Baker Library. At the first stop sign, one block past Baker Library, turn left onto Clement Road. This road runs along the southern end of the pond and is the beginning of a fine one-mile loop around the pond. There are several spots just off the loop — under a pine, in the grass — where one can find quiet and solitude throughout the day.

More Walks, or Runs...

There are a number of trails from campus that are great for an extended walk, or run. You can find some here, thanks to a blog posting on the Tuck School of Business website.
