Welcome to Fundamentals of Computing
Fundamentals of Computing students will discover introductory computer science topics with an emphasis on computational thinking and problem solving. Students will be empowered to create authentic artifacts and engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem solving, and fun. Students will create their own websites, apps, and games.
For this school year, 8th grade students will also be experiencing how to use 3D modeling software for extended learning and skills in computer application.
Tutoring Schedule:
- I’m available every Thursday after school from 3:30 - 4:15.
- If you need help outside that time, please send me an e-mail so that we can arrange a time that works best.
Class Expectations and Procedures:
Come to class on time, prepared, focused and ready to learn.
Respect all teachers, peers and self at all times.
Respect each other’s property and the school building at all times.
Raise your hand. Speak when it is your turn. Do not interrupt teachers or other students.
Electronic devices from home are to be turned off and out of sight at all times. Headphones may only be used for academic purposes. iPads are only to be used when instructed to do so.
Solve problems in a respectful, safe manner. If you need help, ask an adult.
Expectations of Student Work:
Students will turn in work on time
For an individual project, students will stay on task and do their best to their ability
For a group project, all students will work together respectfully. All students will work on the project. Students will act as a team by being respectful, asking for help if needed, and asking questions to check for each other’s and their own understanding.
