AP Calculus AB

AP Calculus AB is a rigorous course devoted to an in-depth exploration of graph characteristics. This course examines the idea of limits and continuity of graphs, derivatives as rates of change, and integrals that calculate area and volume created by graphs on a coordinate plane. Prerequisites to Calculus are Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, and Precalculus. Some students take Probability and Statistics or IB Math studies before Calculus but it is not a required prerequisite.

AP Calculus is an advanced placement course. In May students will take the AP Exam. If reaching a passing score of 3 or higher (on a scale of 5) they can potentially receive college credit hours. Students should look into what score they need for their school and major. Although 3 is considered passing, some schools and majors require a 4 or 5 to count as credit.
