School Counseling Department

Darlington County School District designs and delivers school counseling programs that improve student outcomes, grades PK-12; the personal, social, career, and educational knowledge and skills that support a rewarding and productive life in an ever-changing world. The comprehensive school counseling program framework of Darlington County School District provides standards and strategies for each school in the district to follow in developing and implementing a Comprehensive Development School Counseling Program.

Ms. Marilyn Nelson, LHS School Counselor
She is dedicated to the profession with a unique educational experience that couples 22 years of teaching and counseling grades K-12. She has served the students at LHS for the past 8 years as School Counselor. In addition to her role as LHS School Counselor, she coordinates Parent Teacher Conferences, Attendance Intervention Plans, Scholarship Information, and the Master Schedule. Ms. Nelson is a graduate of Benedict College, Webster University, South Carolina State University, and Cambridge College.

Ms. Lakisha Brown, Administrative Assistant

Ms. Brown is a graduate of HHS and attended Florence Darlington Technical College. This is her 8th year with the LHS Counseling Department. She is responsible for sending and maintaining academic records.
