Due to facility changes in several schools and communities, additional classroom space is available across the district for both 4-year-old kindergarten (4K) and 5-year-old kindergarten (5K) students. 

All 5K students are guaranteed placement. While priority for 4K placement is given to students who meet the state’s eligibility requirements, families of all 4K students are encouraged to apply for the additional classroom space.

Age Requirements

• 4K: Child must be 4 years old by September 1, 2026

• 5K: Child must be 5 years old by September 1, 2026

Registration

• Returning Students: Students who attended 3K or 4K in DCSD during the current school year should click on the "Returning Student" box at the bottom of this page. From there, they should log in to their Final Forms account, select the correct school year, and follow the instructions. For further instructions, click HERE 

• New to DCSD: All other families should register as new students through the district website.

• Parents are encouraged to complete registration online. In-person registration assistance will be available at schools on January 30, 2026, and February 6, 2026.

• All elementary schools will host kindergarten information events in Spring 2026, allowing families to tour campuses, meet staff, and learn more about school routines and expectations.

Documents Needed (New to DCSD):

• Proof of residency (no cell phone bills or driver’s licenses)

• Immunization record

• Birth certificate

• Proof of income or SC Healthy Connections Medicaid card (4K only)
