Assists the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment with the tasks of providing harmonious and cooperative leadership and support to assigned elementary and middle schools; develops, achieves, and maintains the best possible educational programs and services in order to ensure that each student is provided with the richest educational experience possible; monitors and ensures alignment of elementary and middle schools’ plans for continuous improvement; optimizes resources; working closely with principals of assigned primary and elementary schools; communicates and develops plans for implementation of district policies, practices, and procedures.

Oversees the district-wide digital program and an alternative program tailored for students with behavior problems. The Director, working closely with Instructional Technology Coordinators and Instructional Technology Coaches, serves as the primary contact for all matters related to digital and online learning as well as ensures the successful implementation and integration of technology to enhance digital and in-person educational experiences.

Coordinates a year-round program for students ages 16 to 21 years who qualify for services under the Workforce Investment Act. The program emphasizes employability skills, mentoring, job shadowing and job placement.

Develops programs in the Darlington County School District that will supplement and enhance the regular instructional programs for grades K-12 and provide staff development. Such programs (Magnet, Gifted & Talented, Grants, Fine Arts, World Language, & Physical Education) will meet the specific needs of all children and work together to create well-rounded individuals.
Develops, implements, and supervises the ELA and Social Studies instructional programs for grades K-12 and provides staff development.

Provides opportunities and support for staff to develop technological skills that result in an engaging environment for students that ensures effective integration of technology where students experience meaningful instruction, while mastering curriculum standards and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards.
Work closely with teachers and school staff to learn how to navigate daily instruction effectively by enhancing it with technology tools.

Assists the Director of Exceptional Services with the coordination and supervision of special education and related services within the Darlington County School District. Works with schools and their teachers to ensure students' interventions and records are updated and documented as expected by the federal regulations.
