About Me

Me and My Crew!

After graduating from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1987 with my BS degree in Special Education, I married my college sweetheart. 30 years later, we are still married and have raised three really awesome kids. A job change for my husband brought us to Hartsville 12 years ago and we couldn't be happier. Hartsville is a small town with a big personality and we love it!

I have 14 years experience teaching exceptional ed students across 4 states - Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina - from first grade to 12th grade and everything in between! ...but wait! ... There's more! I also have two additional years experience teaching Adult Education, so I've pretty much taught students from age seven to about age 77. I recently took a break from teaching and worked with Vocational Rehabilitation in Hartsville, but teaching is my passion and I have come back to what I love. I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to join the CES staff and I am truly delighted to have your child in my classroom. Caring for children is my passion. I will give my best every day for my students as I help them grow in their knowledge and understanding of the concepts and standards we are teaching, but that's not all that's important to me. I will work to build your child's confidence and self esteem in an environment that is supportive, nurturing, fun, loving and accepting of all ability levels, all strengths, all weaknesses and all differences. We will celebrate the little successes as well as the big and, lastly, we will build an environment of respect for ourselves, one another, our school, our community and our world.

I hope this is your child's best year yet! I also hope you will work with me in making that sentiment a reality. It's a win-win situation when parent and school work together for the good of the child. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. My classroom phone is 843-857-3253.
