The purpose of the District Elementary Honor Choir is to provide the top choral students with an opportunity for growth in connection with and in addition to their own school music program. One afternoon in March, this event provides students with an opportunity to work with a guest clinician. The students learn new techniques, and perform music that challenges their musical abilities. The event also builds camaraderie between the students throughout the district culminating with an evening performance for parents, teachers, and special guests.
Attendance at the pre-concert rehearsal is MANDATORY. If rehearsal or any portion of a rehearsal is missed, the student will be dismissed from Elementary Honors Choir. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Students must be members of their school’s music program and in the 5th grade.
Each student is responsible for being fully prepared (knowing all songs) prior to attending the pre-concert rehearsal. Your child’s music teacher will work with the students prior to their clinical experience but please make sure that your child is fully committed.
Students will be expected to follow all directions given by the clinician and teachers and expected to adhere to the behavior guidelines set forth in their school handbook. DISCIPLINE PROBLEMS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
NO cell phones or electronic devices (iPods, iPads, tablets, gaming systems, etc.) are allowed.
Students must report to Hartsville Middle School fully dressed in concert attire.
Food and drink are not allowed in rehearsal sessions or auditorium.
Students must have sheet music and pencils at the pre-festival rehearsals.
Students/parents are responsible for arranging transportation FROM the Elementary Honors Choir Concert that evening. NO EVENING BUS TRANSPORTATION!
