ART CURRICULUM

Why Art?

Art is an essential component of the curriculum, it enables students to examine themselves and the world around them through creative and critical lenses. By exploring all areas of the visual art including art making, art history, aesthetics, and art criticism, students will develop a comprehensive view of art. Students will build not only creative skills but also problem solving and analytical skills. They will be creating works of art that they can connect between their own lives and other subjects while conveying meaning of their own experiences.

What We Will Be Learning

For this school year we will be creating projects in two-dimensional (2D) like, drawing, painting, collage and printmaking, three-dimensional (3D), sculpture and clay. We will also be doing Mix media and multi media arts with the inclusion of digital arts and stop motion animation. The units and activity presented in this class will be based on topics that enable students to create, research and analyze the world in which they live. They will use technical artistic skills to create works of art that reflect their discoveries.
