About Library
Library Class
Grades K-2
Students in kindergarten, first and second grades visit the library once a six day cycle for 45 mins. During this time, students independently choose books that they are interested in and take part in a lesson. Lessons in library may include topics such as author studies, genre studies, book awards, how to navigate and use the library resources, technology skills, stem lessons, digital citizenship and coding.
Grades 3-5
Students in grades three, four and five come to the library for book selection once a cycle. Lessons in library for these grades come from a collaborative standpoint with classroom teachers.
What to do if you lose or damage a library book
You may find and purchase the same book making sure to pay attention to whether it is hardcover or paperback and send the book to the library with a note with the student's name. Please make sure the copy is new.
Or, you can send in payment via a check made out to Darien Board of Education. Please contact Ms. Weinstein if you do not know the cost.
