NOVEMBER 2017

I can't believe that it is November and Thanksgiving is right around the corner. The past two months have gone by very quickly! The children have done a beautiful job acclimating to their new school environment and have learned their classroom routines. We are all coming together as a community and friendships continue to blossom.

This month in our Second Steps curriculum, we will focus on emotions. We will learn to identify emotions, learn how to express our emotions as well as learn coping skills. The first set of emotions that we will focus on will be, "happy, mad, sad and excited". We will learn how our bodies feel when we experience these emotions as we introduce the "zones of regulation" with the class. For children who are experiencing their second year of ELP will be familiar with the, "Zones". I will be adding more information about the "Zones of Regulation" to the Second Steps section of this website.

During our Learning Centers, we continue to learn about our, "letter of the week", working on our handwriting, exploring in our math and science centers and busy constructing and building in our building center. Our dramatic play center has turned into an orchard! The students have been busy designing trees. We continue to work in our science and writing journals. We are learning to "partner read", sitting knee to knee sharing one book. We also, "buddy read", sitting back to back against one another, each child looking at their own book.

During art center this month, we will be creating special items for our Thankful fest to be held on 11/20 at 12:00. We will also continue to create items for our project, "Fall".
