Elementary Math

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to the DPS Elementary Math Page. This site is designed to help parents and students navigate resources to gain a better understanding of mathematical concepts, skills, and practices. In our classrooms, teachers and students are participating in experiences that allow for real world problem solving. Our goal is to prepare students to be well-rounded mathematicians who understand content that is inclusive of skills, applications, and conceptual learning opportunities.

It is our pleasure to welcome students and families back from what we hope was a relaxing summer with time for family and friends. One of the many great things about education is that every year brings new opportunities. Unlike in most other professions, we as educators have a professional year that has a clear start and finish which brings with it both time to reflect on and learn from the year that just ended, as well as a chance to "wipe the slate clean" and reinvent as necessary. We have an annual chance to implement new learning, create a welcoming classroom environment, and build new and effective relationships with students, parents and colleagues. This year, The Elementary Math Team will continue to provide newsletters as a vehicle to sharing information about math curriculum, learning environments and instructional practices. Newsletters will be posted on this site on the Math News Page. We look forward to continuing our partnership with you during the 2018-19 school year.
