Our work is based on the Connecticut Secondary Social Studies Framework. Within the framework there are 4 dimensions which create the inquiry arc. This arc is designed to give students an opportunity to ask and be asked important and compelling questions. Students then gain experience working with the strategies and approaches that professionals in the field would use and to examine sources to develop deeper understanding. The inquiry arc is completed when conclusions are drawn and something meaningful is done with the knowledge gained.
Dimension 1: Developing questions and planning inquiry
Dimension 2: Applying disciplinary concepts and tools
Dimension 3: Evaluating sources and using evidence
Dimension 4: Communicating conclusions and taking informed action
