Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year

Greetings,

I am Mr. James Ramsden, but you may call me Jimmy. 

A little about me: I'm 42 years old and the father of three. My oldest, James, is a 19-year-old sophomore studying business at the University of Michigan. My middle child, Luke, is 13 and just started 8th grade at Lisle Junior High; his younger sister, Eliana, joined him there this year as a 6th grader.

My own experience overcoming a childhood speech impediment, and living with a neurological condition since a car accident in 2006, is part of what first drew me into education — and shapes how I understand the students I work with.

Middle school is usually when kids begin to develop their inner voice and see the world through a different lens. This is a critical period in development, one where we most need to offer ourselves and others compassion as we grow into our changing bodies and minds. I look forward to this school year and to watching how much your child grows — and how much I grow from working with them.

Small-Group Support (Pull-Out)

Sometimes students step out of class for short, focused sessions with me to work on specific skills. This looks a little different depending on what a student needs:

• Extra practice: For students who need additional, targeted practice beyond what they're getting in class, we meet during Learning Resource time to build those skills.

• Learning at the right level: For students who need to work on core material at a level that better matches where they are right now, we cover key skills in a small-group setting so they can learn at the right pace.

Building Life & Learning Skills

For students working on things like organization, focus, planning, or managing big feelings, I offer short, targeted small-group sessions to help build these important skills.

Support Inside the Classroom

I also work directly inside general education classrooms, helping students with their goals right where they're learning.
