I have been the media coordinator here at Manteo Middle School the last 5 years. I have been married for 20 years and have 3 beautiful children. I am super excited about the changes in my role as a media coordinator, as well as the changes of the physical space and opportunities for learning that are offered in the library here at MMS. We are constantly working to provide much more than just a space to check in and out the latest novels.

I found a love for books at a very early age and love sharing my passion for reading with not only the students, but as well as the staff. I have been a teacher here at MMS for the last 18 years. I began my career as a 7th grade language arts and social studies teacher, which I taught for 11 years. I received my National Board Certification in Early Adolescence in 2004 and later went onto receive my Masters in Library Science from East Carolina University. I strongly believe it is my job to support both the staff and students here at Manteo Middle School. I hope to inspire students not only to become lifelong readers, but independent thinkers and leaders who have an understanding and appreciation of perspectives different than their own.
