Musicianship Points

Students must earn Musicianship Points (MPs) each quarter. Students practice responsibility by tracking their own progress using a score sheet each quarter. MPs are submitted at the end of every quarter and calculated for a grade.

5th Grade - 20 MP/Qtr.

6th Grade - 30 MP/Qtr.

7/8 Grade - 40 MP/Qtr.

H.S. Groups - 50 MP/Qtr.

Our goal is to nurture comprehensive musicianship in every student: skills, knowledge and affect. As an assessment, Musicianship Points encourage students to actively explore various elements of music by emphasizing different projects and assignments. If you think of a new project idea, please submit it to Mr. Petrusaitis.

Important Musicianship Points Forms

• Musicianship Points Score Card - (Turn in your point total, signed, at the end of each quarter)
• Practice/Creativity Log - 8 points per hour (2 points per 15 minutes)

Ways to Earn Musicianship Points

✓ Practice Record: Individual practice time - 8 points per hour or 2 points for every 15 minutes. Time in your private lessons can be included as practice time. Practice records must be signed by a parent/guardian and completed clearly and thoughtfully. *Practice/Creativity Log

✓ Darby Chamber Music: Working in pairs or small groups on ensemble music, duets, small ensembles or composition all count as individual practice. *Practice/Creativity Log

✓ Method Book Performance: of any approved method book material - 5 points per exercise (at Lunch/after school or send recording anytime)

✓ Listening Assignment: 5 points for each recording/album, youtube channel, NPR Music, Concertband Land, Soundcloud, or Spotify. Choose musicians that will help your personal growth. Complete listening survey on website for credit. *Listening Assignment Form

✓ Live Concerts: 10 points for attending a live performance. Please attach ticket stub or program if you can. There are LOTS of opportunities for live music in Hamilton/Missoula. See Mr. P for approval beforehand.

✓ Extra Performances: 20 points for performing outside of school-related events. Please verify with a program, recording, or parent/audience member note.

✓ Concert Tech. Crew: - 10 points per concert.
