Class Overview
The North Ridge Middle School Band Program is and has always been an important part of the NRMS experience. Students receive instruction on their chosen instrument in classes geared directly towards their instrument family. Students can participate in Concert Band or Advanced Band, as well as Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Drumline. 8th Grade students have the option to participate in the Danville High School Marching Band during their 8th Grade year. All students have the ability to receive private lessons paid for and provided by District 118.
About Mr. Owens
Mr. Owens is beginning his 5th year in District 118 and his 3rd year at North Ridge Middle School serving as the Director of Bands. He previously taught K-4 Music at Meade Park Elementary and continues to serve as the DHS Marching Band Assistant Director and assists both NRMS and DHS Jazz Bands. Mr. Owens holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Eastern Illinois University (2014) and graduated from Bismarck-Henning High School (2010). Mr. Owens also serves as one of the Danville District 118 Fine Arts Summer Camp Directors and teaches saxophone lessons for the district. In his free time, Mr. Owens enjoys going to the occasional Cubs game, hanging out with friends, and working on DIY projects around the house.
