Happenings in the Library

Several interesting events or activities occur throughout the school year that are related to our School Library.  Some of these events include Book Fairs and Special Lessons.  Here are some items that are currently happening at the Riverside Library!

Once a month, students are offered a  Makerspace lesson, during their media classes.

When engaging in Makerspace activities, students are prompted to explore ideas and problem-solve by engaging in the activities with the materials provided for them.

They work through - brainstorming, steps and improvements made, and reflection on the collaboration process.

Let the Winter Games Begin!

In January, our students were able to work on puzzles and challenges with a Winter Games and ST Math theme during their Media Time!

They engaged in STEAM challenges where they brainstormed, designed, and created bobsleds, ski lifts, hockey nets, shelters and MORE to support JiJi. Our students worked together to imagine solutions and create models to test with JiJi!

We are participating in Global Read Aloud 2023!

“One Book to Connect the World”

This fall, our libraries will be taking part in the Global Read Aloud, which is an annual six week event that fosters global connections through shared reading, from both picture books and chapter books. This year’s choices were selected through public voting and will encourage students to learn about other cultures, all while listening to a fantastic read aloud!
