What does Shooshalula mean?Â
Well, it's a little bit of a nonsense word that we were told means "beasties" in Spanish, though we haven't found it in any dictionary. So now it is just our fun way of referring to our animals, or any naughty children who come our way. 😉
If you've looked this far then we should probably introduce ourselves. We are Dan and Dea Esta and we are first time farmers at 50.Â
Dea Esta: I have been an elementary school teacher for over 20 years having taught many different ages, including preschool. Once I retired, I wanted to get a farm to give me a reason to get up on my feet every day. Being able to teach preschool again has just been an added bonus and gives me something to smile about every week!
Dan: I have always been a honds-on build it myself kind of guy, and I've made some pretty cool things, but this has been one of my favorite projects yet. I love that I can look at where it is now, how far it's come from when we got it, and know that WE did that. I never thought I would be a horse guy, but here I am with not only horses but cows and goats too! I sure do love my wife!Â
We have loved renovating this house and making our yard beautiful for us, our animals, and now YOU to enjoy. We took this yard from mud, alpaca poop, and weeds and have turned it into an oasis, with still more being built.Â
