CEO's Introduction
Dear Applicant,
Thank you for your interest in joining Danes Educational Trust as the Headteacher at The Beaconsfield School. This is an exciting time to join both this school and our Trust following the recent expansion to 13 schools, comprising six primaries, six secondaries and a University Technical College. We are continually developing our provision to ensure we make the difference to the outcomes of children across our community. Our vision, values and plans are set out in the Trust’s Strategic Plan.
Our Headteachers form a vital part of a collaborative team of leaders across the Trust who work together to develop optimistic, resilient learners and valued and empowered staff. This leadership is supported by a central team of business professionals including Finance, Human Resources, IT, Marketing and Estates and Governance.
This is a great opportunity for the successful candidate to take the lead on the strategic development and direction of the school, providing the vision, culture and effective leadership necessary to ensure high quality education for all its students. When last visited by Ofsted in May 2024, His Majesty’s Inspectors found that The Beaconsfield School continued to be a Good school, noting the school has a “highly positive culture” where “pupils are proud to behave well” (full report).
The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with substantial experience in a senior leadership role, currently working as a Deputy Headteacher or Headteacher in a secondary setting. Evidence of successfully implementing strategies to improve teaching and learning, raising standards of achievement, and effectively managing change will be key to success, as will the ability to create a positive personal impact. An NPQH qualification would be an advantage.
The Beaconsfield School is a non-selective 11-18 secondary school, in south Buckinghamshire. The school has 875 students on roll, with an expanding Sixth Form. In 2025, there are 140 students on roll in the Sixth Form. Although smaller than the average secondary school, staff are highly ambitious for all students, believing that they can and should achieve well. Approximately 25% of the school are eligible for free school meals, and a further 25% of the school is on the special educational needs register. The school is proud to be a fully inclusive community school, where everyone is equal and everyone is welcome.
The school vision is to ensure every student realises their potential, through every member of our community having high aspirations for success, both within and beyond the classroom. Staff at TBS are proactive in making this happen through excellent teaching, explicit teaching of character education and provision of extensive extracurricular and enrichment opportunities.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they share our values, are highly motivated and that they are flexible in their approach. If this is you then we would be delighted to receive your application.
The Trust is committed to the well-being and continuing professional development of all members of staff. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an outstanding and ambitious person. Our Trust has a track record of excellent student attainment and achievement and offers exceptional professional development opportunities.
I look forward to receiving your application.
Yours sincerely,
Julie Jones
