Working pattern: Monday - Thursday 8.00-16.00, Friday 8.00-15.30

Pay range: H6 point 14, £29,540 FTE plus fringe allowance
Actual Salary: £26,161.08 including fringe allowance

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Pastoral Support Officer to join our friendly, dedicated team to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Core Purpose
To support pupils, parents and staff by promoting pupil wellbeing, good attendance and punctuality
Working closely with other members of the pastoral team to address the needs of pupils who need help to overcome barriers to learning and emotional wellbeing, both inside and outside school, in order to achieve their full potential
To uphold and promote the school’s values and ethos.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Assisting Heads of Year
To provide support for pupils whose behaviour or personal circumstances impact on their learning and the learning of others
To lead dedicated pastoral interventions with individuals and small groups as required, to support the formation and development of positive learning habits and relationships
To assist with the monitoring of pupil attendance and punctuality
To assist with the investigation of behaviour incidents as required
To liaise with parents/carers and colleagues as required
Assist with the administration and upkeep of pupil records
To attend and contribute to pupil support meetings
To liaise with outside agencies
To assist with the monitoring of pupils on report
To assist with discipline management and rewards/celebration events
To mentor and support pupils who have additional needs
Be part of the safeguarding team to safeguard all pupils in the school and act swiftly
To take action under the direction of the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead
To support the effective delivery of the personal development and character education provision at the school
To support Head of Year to ensure that staff cover for Registration and Form Time is in place each day
2. Establishing supportive relationships with pupils
To encourage acceptance and inclusion of pupils in all aspects of school life
To develop relationships to foster links between home and school
To identify pupils and support them to achieve their targets
To support pupils as and when required and monitor their progress towards agreed goals
To develop a knowledge and appreciation of the range of activities, courses, opportunities, organisations and individuals that could be drawn upon to provide extra support for pupils
To work in a variety of ways to support, motivate and challenge pupils to raise self confidence. These may include support in class, one to one counselling, helping individuals and groups with work and developing skills, as well as developing and implementing Individual Action Plans
To keep a detailed monitoring and progress record for identified pupils and to make these available to the relevant Head of Year and Senior Leadership Team link
To work with Heads of Year in assemblies
To provide support for pupils with social & emotional needs
Coordinate and deliver emotional literacy support for vulnerable pupils based on the ELSA framework
3. Administrative tasks
To compile statements and paperwork regarding behaviour incidents
To arrange and attend re-integration meetings, when required
To monitor reports and data input
To support the induction of new pupils throughout the year
To file and retrieve pupils’ files
To assist in completion of paperwork for group events/trips relevant to the year
To support the pastoral team with any other administration task
4. General Duties
To liaise, advise and consult with other members of staff as and when required
To attend regular meetings to support pupils and families
To supervise pupils who are internally excluded, when required
To attend relevant INSET, induction and professional training
To be aware of confidential issues linked to home/pupil/teacher/school work and to keep confidences appropriately
To attend regular meetings (Pastoral Support Plans, Attendance Reviews, EHCP Reviews, where appropriate)
To work as part of the wider Pastoral Team, supporting colleagues or filling in as required and directed by the Deputy Headteacher-Pastoral
5. Strategic Duties
To oversee the daily running of year team operations, including the development of tracking systems and support for re-integration of pupils to lessons following an internal or external suspension
To facilitate and support pupil / teacher restorative conversations
The duties above are neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required by the Headteacher to carry out appropriate duties within the context of the job, skills and grade
