Core Purpose
We are looking for volunteers who can support our students by hearing readers and reinforcing their reading skills.If you have any particular skills or specialist subject areas you can offer our school please let us know.
In the classroom, your volunteer work could include:
• Listening to students read. Reading is an extremely important skill for students to learn, but can be difficult to acquire. Any time and help that you can give could make a huge difference to students' future achievement levels in school. Additionally, you might be asked to read to students — this can be of great benefit to their English language and literacy development.
Volunteers may also undertake some or all of the following:
• Support students in using basic ICT
• Maintain own professional development and to keep up to date with leading edge practice.
• Danes Educational Trust is committed to the safety and welfare of every student and the Volunteer will be required to attend appropriate safeguarding training.
• The Volunteer must be aware of the need for confidentiality regarding the students

Safeguarding
We are committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare of student’s and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. A Disclosure and Barring Service Certificate will be required for all posts.
Additional Information
Volunteers are to participate in training and other learning activities and in performance management and development as required by the Trust’s policies and practices.
