Job Title: Assistant Inclusion Lead

Core Purpose
To work within the inclusion team to support and inspire pupils with additional learning and / or social, emotional and mental health needs to achieve their best, and in doing so, liaise with parents and the wider staff
To support the planning and delivery of enhanced provisions within the school
To assist the SENCO in identifying needs, coordinating support and liaising with families, colleagues and other agencies
To maintain high professional and academic standards, remaining up to date in terms of subject knowledge and pedagogical techniques, and sharing these with the wider teaching staff
Assist in providing professional guidance to colleagues working closely with staff, parents and other agencies
Provide support and advice to teachers to enable children to thrive in the classroom
To help deliver and lead on targeted interventions within the school
Support to Inclusion Team:
Assist in identifying pupils requiring SEN support and gathering relevant information
Support the maintenance and updating of SEND records, including EHCP documentation and provision maps
Help coordinate and implement Personal Learning Plans (PLPs), interventions, and review meetings
Liaise with teachers and support staff to ensure consistent and effective support strategies are in place.
Pupil Support:
Work with individuals and small groups of pupils, delivering tailored interventions in English, maths, emotional regulation, social skills or other areas as identified
Promote pupils’ independence, confidence, and well-being through structured support
Monitor and record pupil progress and provide feedback to SENCO, teachers, and parents as appropriate
Contribution and / or leading on whole school initiative to support pupil well being.
Teaching & Learning:
Plan and deliver learning activities under the direction of the SENCO and/or class teachers, both in enhanced provision and class settings
Use a range of strategies to support inclusive classroom practice and differentiate learning effectively
Contribute to the assessment and planning processes by providing feedback and evidence of pupil achievement
Liaise with parents
Provide in class support for children as determined by need
Carry out observations of children
Communication & Liaison:
Establish positive relationships with parents/carers to support student progress and well-being.
Liaise with external agencies, including speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and local authority professionals
Attend relevant meetings and contribute to multi-agency discussions regarding pupil support
Administrative & Organisational Support:
Support the SENCO with administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, updating the SEN register, and coordinating annual reviews
Complete paperwork (eg for EHCP applications/reviews, PLPs) to be finalised by the SENCO, for children with whom the postholder works closely

Employees will be expected to comply, following consultation, with any reasonable request from the Headteacher to carry out tasks and duties that are of a similar level, but not specified in the job description
Attend, not lead, statutory meetings eg EHCP reviews, for children with whom the postholder works closely
NB Unless the postholder has QTS, they may not deputise for the SENCO in a situation where a qualified teacher is required
