Working pattern: Part-time, Permanent
3 days per week, 19.5 hours, 8.30am - 3.30pm, Term time + INSET
Plus A level and GCSE result days
Salary: H8 23 - £32,076 + £988 fringe allowance (FTE)
Actual salary: £14,907 (incl fringe allowance)
Core Purpose
The Careers Coordinator provides information and offers advice to students relating to Further and Higher Education and Career opportunities. They ensure delivery of extensive, up to date, relevant information to equip students with a broad knowledge of the opportunities available to them beyond CDS. Promotion and the tracking of careers activities, resources and events to staff and subject areas, using both Unifrog and Compass+ software, forms a key part of this role as Croxley Danes looks to consolidate and expand its careers provision. The Careers Co-ordinator will also liaise with careers colleagues across the Danes Trust and within the local Careers service provision, to maximise the school’s careers opportunities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Careers Coordinator is responsible for;
Providing 1:1 Careers guidance for all year 11 and 13 pupils, and in other year groups as needs arise
Monitoring access to, and take up of, guidance offered
The promotion of local Careers events (Careers, Medical, Universities and Apprenticeships Fairs) with the opportunity to develop the school’s potential to host our own larger Careers events
Administrate and promote the use of the ‘Unifrog’ platform across the school and monitoring to ensure all pupils are making effective use of the resources available.
Assisting and advising students (and parents when required) in application processes (UCAS and employment)
Supporting the Careers Lead in organising Work Experience programmes, including actively seeking work experience opportunities for students
Supporting the Careers Lead in establishing and developing industry and parent links
Supporting and advising students and parents at KS4 in KS5 transition, including students new to the school
Curating Careers content for school media channels (LinkedIn, X, Google Classroom) and staff/parent bulletins
Delivering information in assemblies, workshops and other forums
Arranging student visits to relevant institutions and businesses
Arranging student participation in external programmes and competitions
Arranging visits from external bodies (education, corporate and military)
Maintaining contact with alumni network (from September 2024) and providing accurate data on student destinations for 3 years after leaving school
Creating and administering the completion of questionnaires (for students and parents) to regularly evaluate the effectiveness of the Careers provision
Providing guidance at relevant Parents’ Evenings, Sixth Form Open Evening and post examination results
Carry out any such duties that may be reasonably required by the school.
The Careers Coordinator will work in partnership with the CDS Careers Lead, who is responsible for creation and implementation of the school’s Career strategy, and is the SLT link for Careers.
