Tips & Tricks
Tips & Tricks
Follow these tips & tricks to make your Showcase experience as seamless as possible.
Before the Show:
1) Buy an extra pair of tights.
Things happen last minute, whehter it's a rip or a hole. If you have a back-up pair, there are no fears. Remember, all performance tights must be Revolution brand. Extra tights can be purchased HERE.
2) Make sure your dancer is well-fed before the show begins.
3) Take your dancer to the restroom before the show begins.
4) Order your tickets in advance.
Once you arrive to the auditorium, tickets can only be purchased online via qr-code. Save yourself time by purchasing online and selecting your seats.
5) Put your dancer's name on everything (costumes, shoes, tights, dance bag, hairpieces, etc.).
6) Read your Recital Handbook!
Hair & Makeup:
1) Watch this Bun-Making Tutorial.
2) Tight, neat buns are required for all Ballet classes.
3) Bring extra hairspray and bobby pins. (There is no such thing as too much- we promise)!
4) Makeup is not a requirement, but you may want to consider it, as your dancers will be under bright stage lights.
Stage lighting has a tendency to wash out performers' faces. If using makeup, we recommend foundation, blush, and lipstick.
During Recital:
1) Make sure your dancer does not wear underwear under tights.
2) Stay for the Finale. (We always have a surprise or two up our sleeves)!
3) Staff and assistants will always be around during the Recital and Rehearsals, should you have any questions.
Costume Care:
1) When washing costumes, ensure they are washed in cold water only on a gentle cycle, preferably using a lingerie wash-bag to ensure they are not damaged.
2) Costumes should not be tumble-dried.
3) Take care not to over-expose costumes to sunlight.
4) Costumes with sequins or embellishments should be hand-washed in cold water.
PRO TIP: If your dancer's costume has a tutu, hang it upside down for maximum fluff!
