At Dance Junction, we stock pointe shoes by Bloch, Energetiks, and Capezio. We are also the only Tasmanian stockist for Grishko and Virtisse pointe shoes.
We are happy to order in your preferred style of pointe shoe if the shoes you wear aren't in stock. Please reach out to us via social media, contact@dancejunction.net or on 0427 313 581 to discuss.
Lucy is an experienced pointe shoe fitter.
Dances must provide evidence that they have passed a comprehensive pre-pointe screening assessment with an AHPRA registered physiotherapist prior to their initial pointe fitting.
We recommend Fiona and Carmen from Bodysystem or Karrie from Flex Health Therapy, however any AHPRA registered physio with experience in ballet and pre-pointe can conduct the assessment.
A pre-pointe assessment should include a medical history, observations, and a series of functional testing, movement testing and other special tests.
The physio should provide you with a report explaining your results and any recommendations they may have.
Dancers must also have permission from their ballet teacher before being fitted for their first pointe shoes. We encourage ballet teachers to attend the fitting where possible.
Please make an appointment for a fitting by filling in the Initial Pointe Shoe Fitting Screening Form below or contacting us via social media or on 0427 3613 581. We cannot accommodate walk-ins for initial fittings, only for subsequent fittings.
Please allow up to 45 minutes for an initial pointe shoe fitting.
We recommend that you wear convertible tights (or bring tights along) as we need to be able to see your bare feet before fitting your shoes.
Please wear clothing that allows us to see your ankles and lower legs easily and that you can comfortably plié and relevé in.
Please trim your toenails short and square 2-3 days before you come in. Don't trim them the night before, as the surrounding skin won't have time to harden.
Please bring along any recommendations from your pre-pointe physio assessment and ballet teacher.
We recommend you watch the below video for an understanding of how your fitting session will go.
