We enjoyed celebrating VE Day for the 80th anniversary with our friends in the other Meadow strands.
We enjoyed listening to music from the 1940s whilst eating a tasty snack. We discussed the importance of the event in class.
We started researching what a Varmint was. We have found this book by Helen Ward and think we now know who the secret gardener is and why they need our help.
We've enjoyed reading the book so far and have written some wonderful, descriptive writing so far.
We found a curious message.
There was a letter from a mysterious 'Secret Gardener.'
The secret gardener left some flowers and seeds but they left in a hurry.
We've been looking at decimals in maths and learning how to divide numbers by 10 and 100 such as 4 divided by 10 is 0.4. 4 divided by 100 is 0.04. We have used tenths and hundredths to help us explain the value of digits after the decimal point.
Dorchester library is a great place to find your next favourite new author. If you have enjoyed 'When the Mountains Roared', you could even check out more books by Jess Butterworth.
Today Meadow 4 tested out AI image generation software. Their task was to write a description of the river that Ruby (our main character in 'When the Mountain's Roared') could see. We entered some of their descriptions into an image generator to see if the picture created matched the picture in their heads!

It was interesting researching the objects that are used by some Hindus during a Puja.
We enjoyed assembling the parts of a Puja tray and thinking about what each part represents using our senses.
We've been learning about important aspects in Hinduism. We researched different deities and have been looking at shrines in the home and temples.
Will artificial light power a solar cell?
We experimented making a human circuit to power the 'energy stick'!
Will the human circuit work if don't hold hands?
We made circuits with solar cells then tested the energy generated in different areas.

The children worked hard to explain their answers when adding 4 digit numbers with renaming.
"We start adding with the smallest place value digit. If we started with the biggest, we'd probably have to redo the answer if it needed renaming."

We welcomed in our local Police Community Support Officer, Jane, into assembly today. We learnt about her role in the community and got to explore some of Jane's equipment and how to recognise different types of uniform.
We've enjoyed writing about our own dragons and being dragonologists! Check out our amazing clay dragon eyes too!
