At Damers we believe that a positive mindset has a powerful impact on children’s attitudes to their learning . In our classroom we develop and nurture this through mistake making, effort, perseverance, the power of YET and challenge. We call all of this having a growth mindset. A growth mindset is the belief that with time and effort you can be successful at what you put your mind to.
Here are a list of books that promote a growth mindset:

Here are some mindset songs and videos that we love to play in the classroom. They have great messages and are super catchy.

The Power of Yet If you hear “I can’t do it” simply add “yet” on the end.

What I Am Always believe in yourself.
Why is the word yet so powerful for growth mindset?
It refers to the idea that adding the word “yet” to the end of a sentence can transform a statement from a line of failure into one of potential. The addition of “yet” implies that although you may not have achieved something right now, there is still room for growth and improvement in the future. So if your child tells you that they can't do something, just add the word "yet" onto the end of their sentence so that they know it is possible and one day they'll be able to do it.
