Hello! My name is Evelyn Delis and I am excited to be a 5th grade teacher at CDS. I am originally from Ohio, but have lived in Korea since 2011 after completing a study abroad program at Kyung Hee University.
I received my Bachelors of Arts Degree at the University of Akron and my Elementary Education Teaching Certificate from the University of Florida. I am extremely passionate about teaching and believe that challenges present opportunities for growth. I always build rapport with students in order to have a trusting and healthy relationship, which is important for a positive classroom environment. I am teaching Social Studies and English and am looking forward to all of the exciting topics and materials that we will cover throughout the year.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy the outdoors, traveling, vlogging, spending time with family and friends, and playing board games. I am married, and have two very active boys.
I am thrilled to be a part of the CDS community!
Hello! My name is John Galvan and I am excited to be teaching fifth grade with Ms. Delis.
I completed my undergraduate studies at University of Houston Clear Lake, and received my Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. After graduation, I received my teaching license for all sciences 7-12th grade, and later my elementary certification for teaching K-5th grade. I spent 2 years teaching 9th grade biology in the US before coming to Korea to work as a homeroom and English teacher for the past 7 years. I recently returned to school and am working on my masters degree in curriculum and instruction. As an educator, my goal is to ensure all of my students are given the highest quality instruction in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
In addition to my dedication to teaching, I enjoy music, playing video games, and taking walks in beautiful parks around town. I can play guitar and piano well enough to sing along to my playing. RPGs are my favorite genre of video games for the stories they tell and fun game mechanics. Lastly, walking has always been a wonderful way for me to feel at peace and enjoy nature. I am excited to see how the students and I can integrate our passions into the classroom this year!
This will be my first year teaching at CDS and I am looking forward to working with you to help our students have a successful year!
