Hello, everyone! My name is Adam Burgetz. I am an elementary school homeroom teacher from Canada and am excited for my fourth year at Dalton! My entire professional career as a teacher has been teaching abroad. I attained my primary teaching certification in Melbourne, Australia and have continued traveling to teach ever since. I also completed my Master's in Elementary Literacy & Mathematics. I have previously been an upper elementary homeroom teacher at international schools in both China and Korea. I taught for two years in tropical Sanya, China before venturing to the incredible city of Shanghai to teach for three years and immerse myself in the city’s historical brilliance. My family and I decided to settle back in Korea where we raised our daughter for two years in peaceful Jeju, where I continued to educate upper elementary students and experience life as a father. My professional journey has led me to Dalton, and my family and I are grateful for this opportunity to be a part of this thriving community. In addition to teaching, I enjoy writing fiction, songs, and poetry. I love to travel, create, and chase my infinitely energetic little daughter around as she exercises her curiosity in everything.
Hello! I am looking forward to another year of living in Korea and working with the students and teachers at Dalton. It's going to be a great year! I have lived and/or taught in France, Guam, the United States mainland- (New Mexico), Dubai, Japan, and Albania. I have loved all of my experiences and feel that they all have added value to me as a teacher and as a person.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I like to read pretty much anything, but my favorite genre is fantasy. My absolute favorite way to pass time is to draw and paint. I love drawing and love incorporating art into many of my lessons to help students explore their creative sides. Those are just a few things about me, and I hope to share more with you this year!
